Kapa haka performance
Today I saw a performance from the kapa haka group, we also learnt about the Maori traditional language and weapons that can be used by protecting them and for hakas and waiatas.
First I saw the kapa haka group do a Maori intro ceremony, they used a conch to make a loud noise so people can get there attention and know they arrived.
Next they introduced themself, and they performed a dance to us for there welcoming, they also gave us imformation about the different Maori objects you can use to perform, e.g: poi, ti rakau, and taiaha.
Later, we saw a performance from the kapa haka boys, that did a Haka for a respond to the Kapa haka group.
The classes went to a Maori teacher and they played games, LS1 played matou and maui, matou is right, and maui is left what we had to do do is peform a circle then we get a Rakau and then the Maori teacher says Maui or Matau then we go left or right.
I enjoyed this weeks kapa haka performance, I enjoyed it since I got to have the oppurtunity to play Maui and Matou, and learn about the different performing objects.

Emergency Shelters
The inquiry task was to write down the materials that are needed for the storm shelter that is going to be built.
In total there are 9 materials that could protect against storm shelter. There are three main materials that are important to use for protecting the shelter and which are concrete, chicken wires, and rubber bracelets. We chose concrete because it is not easy to break apart. We chose chicken wires because it can keep the shelter stable. our group chose rubber bracelets because it can stop electricity.
The other six materials are: cotton balls, aluminum, popsicle sticks, duck tape, hard plastic, and steel. All 9 materials are important for defending the shelter and could be useful for something in danger.
We figured out the amount was because we drew the shelter and drew our materials. We kept on filling the whole until it was finished. For example: For concrete, the height is 18cm and the width is 20cm. There are four walls and the floor. So there are five and five places to use the concrete. That’s how we figured out the concrete can be used.
Emergency shelters are really important when it comes to floods and different kinds of storms.

First we cut cups into quarters.
Next we got another cup then put lines on it to know where to cut the eight pieces.
I like this weeks fraction learning because I got all the questions that Mr Wong gave me right besides nine plus nine because I thought it was eight plus eight.

Kiwi Sport
This week for kiwi sport we did 2 and three man settle with a game of touch.
First Jay Lee and I did a two man settle. We drove the ball up the field to get yards.
To do a three or two man settle, 3 of us or 2 a b and c the letter a has to run up while b comes then a puts down the ball then b grabs the ball then b throws it to c.
After that we played actual touch but their was 3 groups sometimes 1 team had to go twice.
I enjoyed this weeks learning of kiwi sport my favourite part was when we were in groups and playing touch.

Manaiakalani film festival...
Today the whole of Panmure Bridge School went to Silvia Park and up to the movie theaters for the Manaiakalani film festival.
First we waited for the other schools to come down so our school can go to the thearter.
Next when we went up we sat down and started to watch the short films.
The one that standed out the most to me was the maori one where everyone from Tamaki Collage did activites like Kia o Raha and the Pukana game.
Maori-names
Today for Maori we translated peoples names.
We wrote down the English names that we already knew into the middle box where we had to translate the names from Maori to English.
Next if we didnt know the rest of the names we went to the maori dictionary and put the Maori names in the search column and then got the English names.
Then we wrote the translated names into the middle column and then if there were left over boxes of names that we couldnt find we went over Whaea Odie to get the rest of the names translated to English.

Kiwi sport.
This week for kiwi sport we played three and two man settle and then we played walking touch.
First we played three and two man settle so we could have a warm up and then we practice how to plant the ball
Next we did two and three man setteles.
so we plant the ball after the ball is palnted l then wait for my team mate to pick the ball up and I go behind my team mate and he or she throws it to me and then we do it again five more times.
When we do the three man settles its basicly the exact same as two man settle accept you have three people and when you plant the ball and you step over it you go behind the second and third person and your second team mate throws the ball backwards to your third team mate then do it over and over again till you get touched or get a score.
I enjoyed this weeks touch practice beacuse I learned how to play three and two man settle.

For Maori today we did names - we had a google doc and we had to match the correct English names for the Maori names that were written.
First we listened to the sounds and looked at the letters. A lot of the names sound like their English name. We could also look up the names in the Maori Dictionary.
Next we went down to the mat and got help or got it checked
I enjoyed this weeks Maori learning beacuse I got to write Maori and English names.
